G1 Goldmine and StallionMatch.com: What Is the Difference?
Stallion Match began as a feature inside G1 Goldmine and remains one. It has also been developed into a site of its own at stallionmatch.com, where stallions and the farms that stand them can be shown in more detail.
The two work together. Which one you want depends on what you are trying to do.
The short answer
G1 Goldmine is for breeders and buyers who want the analysis behind a mating, the ancestors involved, and the data underneath both.
StallionMatch.com is built around stallions and farms, with fuller profiles, images and statistics on individual horses.
Two separate accounts
G1 Goldmine and StallionMatch.com use separate logins. A membership on one does not sign you in to the other, so if you want to use both you will need an account on each.
The main difference in practice
Within G1 Goldmine, the Any Stallion Match tab lets you match your mare against any male horse in the database, not only horses standing at stud.
On stallionmatch.com, matching is limited to active and past stallions.
That difference matters more than it sounds. Being able to use any male horse means you can:
- Assess a colt still racing, before he retires and before a fee is set
- Test a stallion whose farm has not listed him
- Run a mating against a horse that never stood at stud at all, to understand what a cross would look like
If your work involves horses outside the commercial stallion roster, that is the reason to be in G1 Goldmine.
What G1 Goldmine adds
G1 Goldmine holds the analytical tools, which extend well beyond matching a mare to a stallion:

StallionMatch.com is where a stallion is presented rather than analysed. Farms that promote their horses supply images, current fee and season, and farm information, all of which appear there in fuller form.

Which should you use?
Choosing a stallion for your mare from those commercially available. Either works. StallionMatch.com shows the stallion in more detail, G1 Goldmine puts the match alongside the rest of the analysis.
