Stallion Images and Profiles
Stallions promoted by their farms carry fuller profiles on G1 Goldmine, including photographs. This is what a promoted stallion shows that an unpromoted one does not.
The Image(s) panel
Run a match and the Image(s) panel sits on the right with the other analysis panels. Expand it to see the stallion's photographs.
Where more than one image has been supplied, arrows either side of the picture move through them.
The panel is greyed out and cannot be expanded when no images exist for that stallion. That is not a fault. It means the farm has not supplied any.
Spotting images before you open a match
The directory results table carries an Image column. A blue icon means photographs are available, and a grey one means none have been supplied.
That is useful when working through a long results list, because it tells you which stallions you can actually look at before committing to opening each one.
Why the photographs matter
Pedigree analysis covers what a stallion transmits. It says nothing about what he looks like, and physical type is a real part of a mating decision.
A conformation shot lets you judge whether a stallion is likely to suit your mare physically. If she is light-framed, a stallion with substance may balance her. If she has a fault you are breeding away from, you can see whether he is likely to correct it or repeat it.
For most breeders this is the closest they will get to inspecting a stallion standing in another country, which is worth something given the directory covers farms worldwide.
What else a promoted stallion shows
Farm branding. The farm's logo appears alongside the pedigree on the match screen, so you can see at a glance where the horse stands.
Current fee and season. The directory lists the service fee and the year it applies to, rather than a figure of uncertain vintage.
A direct enquiry route. Promoted stallions carry the Contact Farm option, so you can ask the farm about a specific mating without leaving the platform. See Contacting a stud farm.
Unpromoted stallions
A stallion whose farm has not promoted him can still be analysed in full. Use the Any Stallion Match tab to match against any male horse in the database.
What you will not get is the photograph, the current fee, the farm branding or the enquiry route. The pedigree analysis itself is identical, so a lack of promotion says nothing about the horse.
