Pedigree Preview Explained
Pedigree Preview is a free sample of the pedigree and analysis G1 Goldmine holds on any horse. Detailed figures are obscured in the preview and are revealed by membership.
It exists so that you can find out whether a horse is in the database and what analysis exists for it before deciding whether the detail is worth having.
What you can see
The preview shows the pedigree itself and the shape of the analysis behind it. You can confirm the horse is held, check the pedigree is correct, and see which analytical outputs exist for it.
What is obscured is the detail: the specific figures, scores and assessments. The preview shows you that an analysis exists and what it covers. Membership shows you what it says.
Preview depth increases with membership level, so Plus and Pro members see progressively more without needing to open the full tool.
Breeding theories in the preview
The Breeding Theory Finder results appear in Pedigree Preview, showing which of the seven named breeding theories the pedigree satisfies.
This is one of the more useful things available at preview level, because it is a structural read on the pedigree rather than a number, and it gives you a genuine sense of what the pedigree is built around before going further.
What it is for
Checking coverage. Before assuming a horse is not in the database, look it up. The database holds pedigrees well beyond commercial stallions and recent stakes winners.
Verifying a page. Catalogue pages and third-party pedigrees contain errors. The preview lets you check a pedigree against the database quickly.
Deciding what to analyse. If you are working through a sale catalogue, the preview is a fast way to identify which horses justify a full analysis rather than running everything.
Trying the platform. The preview is the honest version of a demonstration. You run it on horses you actually know and judge whether the analysis is telling you something useful about them.
If the horse is not there
You can add a horse yourself using Add a Horse, which is how mares not already held are brought in for matching. Members can also submit horse requests to have records added.
