Understanding the Sireline, Male, and Female Strain Functions

Within the G1 Goldmine Pedigree Search tool, you can search for ancestors within the pedigree of stakes winners using the Sireline, Male, and Female strain functions. These features help you narrow down your search by focusing on specific areas of the pedigree.

Sireline Function

The Sireline function allows you to restrict your search to the sire line positions within the pedigree. Here's how to use it:

  • Select Sire Line: Tick the Sire Line radio button for either H1 or H2.
  • Search within Halves: The Pedigree Search will only look for the sire line positions within the selected half of the pedigree.

This helps you focus on the direct male ancestors, providing a more targeted analysis.

Male and Female Strain Functions

The Male and Female strain functions let you restrict your search to either male or female line. These functions can be used in both halves or quartile searches.

  • Male Strain: When the Male radio button is selected, the search will only include ancestor locations from that line (produced a male of female).
  • Female Strain: When the Female radio button is selected, the search will only include ancestor locations from either a male or female line.

Example

Let’s illustrate this with an example:

Female Line Search in Quartile: If you select the Female radio button within a Q4 search, the Pedigree Search will only look for matching ancestors from the female line within that specific quartile.
