Godolphin 2025–26: The Numbers Behind Australia's Blue Army

Note: All percentages are calculated on a distinct horse basis, individual winners as a proportion of individual horses raced. This measures squad depth and quality rather than raw start frequency.

If there is one defining force in Australian racing this season, it is Godolphin. The operation, trained by a hand-picked team of Australia's leading conditioners across Sydney and Melbourne, has been in imperious form since the season opened in August 2025, with 61 individual horses winning from 142 campaigned: a winners-to-runners ratio of 43%.

That headline figure, nearly one in every two horses winning at least once, speaks to the extraordinary depth of the Godolphin squad. But it is at the elite end of the program where the story becomes truly remarkable, with 57% of their Group 1 runners tasting victory at the highest level.

The verdict

Forty-three percent of horses have won at least once this season. Sixty-nine percent have finished in the top three. Eight horses won on debut. Twenty-eight have won multiple times. The 2022 foal crop is arguably the strongest Godolphin has produced in Australia. The operation has been perfectly balanced across Sydney and Melbourne, across males and females, across sprinters and stayers. Ten Group 1 victories, five Group 2s, six Group 3s. By every meaningful measure, this has been a Godolphin season in Australia to remember, and with the calendar still months from its conclusion, the blue army shows no signs of letting up.
